I got lured into buying QCOR on the breakout day 5/1 from the cup. Volume looked solid coming in at 64% above average. However, the stock closed below the breakout price for the day and closed in the bottom (32%) of the day's trading range. Now it appears I will likely get shaken out of this position as the stock starts to form what looks like a handle.
Perhaps I will hesitate to buy breakouts from a cup without handle in the future. I wonder if anyone else has success buying breakouts from cup-without-handle patterns.
I was also lured into buying on the breakout. Next question is it forming a well formed handle?
Scott O' has said he likes cups with handles. Also look how the RS Line was not at a new high as the stock was hitting a new high. I don't like the handle due to the volume. You want volume to dry up in the handle.
