What can we expect from Marketsmith in the future if the rumors that Microsoft will not be supported after Silverlight 5 are true? Revamp to HTML 5? I am also curious if there are any plans for Android.
I am hearing the Windows 8 native runtime (WINRT) will support the silverlight language in some form or another. Internet explorer 10 for Windows 8 will not accomodate any browser plug ins. This means browser based webapps like Marketsmith will be forced to eventually either convert to HTML 5 to remain web based or move to being "App" based (metro interface). However, windows 8 will also have a "desktop" internet explorer that will accomodate plug ins (ie legacy).
I woud love to see a touch based Marketsmith app for a windows 8 tablet some day. Although having something HTML 5 based (assuming it is possible) that I can access from any platform (my android phone or tablet in particular) would be great!

Andrew, Thanks for sharing that info. As one who recently began straddling between APPL products (iPhone 4 & iPad1) and MSFT products, and therefore, like most of us, an ADBE Flash user, I am intensely curious to see how HTML 5 progresses and affects our other products (like MS). From what this, admittedly, non-techie guy sees, it would appear to me that HTML 5 will dominate suggesting MS should already be working on that solution. Brad
will continue to be delivered using the best technology for web-based software
development and, given that software-as-a-service continues to grow in market
presence, we anticipate that those capabilities will, if anything, increase
dramatically going forward.
This suggests that MarketSmith doesn't have a set plan yet for dealing with this crisis. I think the uncertainty going forward seriously dampens the attraction of MarketSmith as long as we have no clear statement from them as to what technology or technologies they will use as Silverlight is laid to rest.
