Markups and Notes are designed to be chart specific so you can access that content whenever you are viewing that chart, regardless of that chart’s origin (reports, screens, user lists etc). So notes added to the chart or Journal feature will not be list specific. You can, however, create notes for each individual list. Simply select the list and the open the “List Properties” tab at the bottom of the list manager. From here you can create a description or add comments without actually sharing the list in the community.
Suggestion about a few markup features which could be improved upon--
1) Making lines, triangles, etc. selectable and "draggable" (like the text box is) would be immensely helpful. To mark a buy point precisely sometimes requires creating the line/triangle and deleting it multiple times to get it in exactly the right position. Seems unnecessary.
2) Allowing us to change the font size in journal entries would be really nice. You don't want eye strain to limit the amount of time people spend on the tool, but it will if they're stuck with the really small print.
3) A right-click and "insert comment" option would be nice, preferably with comments that we can drag around on the chart. Comment could be automatically added to the journal, like a "show comments" view sometimes does in a word processor.
The main point in each example is that spending excessive time annotating the charts and adding notes is a distraction from thinking about the content, and yet these features are an important aspect of why we're using this tool instead of printing charts and writing on them. It's worth perfecting, as I know you will, and doing so as quickly as possible.
Thanks.
We appreciate your suggestion for the markups tool and it will be forwarded to our development committee for further consideration. This feature is currently targeted as one for future enhancements and your feedback will be helpful in the redesign process.
I'm noticing my markups move as the chart adjusts to added days. Specific example: circle placed by me around numerals indicating price (and potential buy point) by MarketSmith no longer surrounds the number after 3 days.
@ Stephen_robert – The markups are designed to move left as time progresses, so that they remain fixed on the precise price points on the chart. Regarding your specific situation, please send us a screenshot of the issue to reachus@marketsmith.com. Using this, we will further troubleshoot your exact issue.
I am unable to draw a line or arrow on a specific bar. Now matter where I place my curser it pins right or left. I cannot begin to tell you how frustrating it is to not be able to annotate my charts properly anymore. I have brought this up before, but it is just drivig me crazy. Is anyone else out there having this problem? Is it my computer? My mouse? What could it be?
I never had this problem the first week or two that I used Marketsmith.
yes, it is a pain in the *** , after a couple of days i gave completely up
using the annotations, they are plain un-usable.
MARKETSMITH :
please create an annotation feature allowing to enter
- a date
- a price ( green=buy / red=sell )
that automatically inserts a box on the chart with this content
